On July 23, Northern York County Regional Police Department received a theft report from a company in Dothan, Alabama.
The Panhandle Converter and Recycling Company in Dothan reported that it had been doing business with a Jackson Township company called EMZ Metals.
EMZ Metals was located at 6186 Pine Road in Jackson Township, and the owner was listed as Steven Hemme.
Panhandle Converter and Recycling Company reported they delivered a tractor trailer load of catalytic converter parts to EMZ Metals. The value of the load was $223,409.00. Steven Hemme signed for the load of materials.
The company advised it had never received payment for the load from Hemme.
Northern York County Regional Police Department investigators went to the address listed for EMZ Metals and found it abandoned.
A warrant for Steven Hemme was issued in August charging Hemme with Theft By Unlawful Taking and Receiving Stolen Property.
The United States Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force took Steven Hemme into custody on November 2, in West Manchester Township. He was taken to Central Booking for arraignment.
