Police in Middletown are investigating two incidents of child luring. In both cases the victims fled.
One of the incidents occurred Wednesday morning, the other after school Tuesday. The attempts occurred at two different locations, but in the same neighborhood.
Around 6:30 Wednesday morning at Market and Lawrence Streets, a man driving a light blue colored car approached a teenage male. The driver tried to get the boy into his car. He refused.
The only description is that the suspect was wearing a hoodie.
Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 430 p.m., a black male approached a 13-year-old female at Catherine and Wilson Streets and tried to give the teenager a ride.
The suspect was described as a medium skinned black male with a beard. He was last seen driving west on Wilson Street toward Genesis Court.
The car was described as a four-door, aqua-blue sedan, looking similar to a Ford Crown Victoria like those used by police officers.
Julie Bowman of Hummelstown regularly drops her son off here at his grandmother's near Catherine and Wilson Streets.
"Well happening right outside where my son sits on the steps and plays,” expressed a concerned Julie Bowman. “We do try to keep an eye out for the kids around here, but having it this close to home makes me nervous."
Middletown's police chief and the borough's public information officer were unavailable Wednesday for comment. In a written news release, they requested that anyone with information contact them.
Police nave not said whether the two incidents might be related. The one common factor is the description of the car, an aqua blue, Ford Crown Victoria.
