On Thursday around 1040 a.m., a police officer observed something thrown out of a vehicle in the 800 block of Amosite Road. The officer checked the item and found it to be a cylinder tank and smelled anhydrous ammonia coming from the tank.

The roadway was blocked for several hours until the State Police Lab Team responded to secure the tank.

Around 1250 p.m., the suspect vehicle initiated a traffic stop on Yoder Road in Conoy Township. The three suspects, Daniel Heeman, Gerald Hicks and April Shaw were in the car.

The Lab was also called to check the vehicle to make sure it was safe.

While investigating, it was determined the suspects may have dumped a small red or blue cooler and trash bags along the roadway. That cooler may contain hazardous materials.

At this time, the cooler and trash bags have NOT been located. Anyone in the public who spots them should not handle them and should immediately call police.

The items are likely located in a rural area between Bainbridge and Middletown.

Heeman, Hicks and Shaw were arraigned and placed in Lancaster County Prison on $275,000 bail.

Anyone with additional information about these subjects is asked to contact the Northwest Regional Police Department and speak with Officer Henry or Detective Gregory S. Wahl.
