Stray bullets flew into a home in Lebanon Tuesday night after gun fire rang out on the street.
This is the third incident in the area in three days.
Over the weekend police were called to investigate shots fired on North 7th Street and then were called after a man was shot in the face near 5th and Lehman Streets.
Tuesday night police were called to Chestnut Street, in between 6th and 7th Street, just blocks from the incidents over the weekend.
Wiley Smith's home was hit by the stray bullets in Tuesday's incident. "I was in the back room watching TV - they was in here watching TV, and I heard the shots. I looked out the back window! Then my granddaughter yelled, 'Gee - they just shot through the window! I pulled both of them down on me and told them to stay down."
Smith said he and his family moved to this house because it was a safe neighborhood. It is right down the street from Harding Elementary School. "We moved here because of the school! No drugs, no violence, no gangs, right across from the school. I said, I'll take that one!"
The violence in the area has a lot of other neighbors concerned too.
Everett McMullen is concerned, but he is glad the bullets didn't hit anyone when they went into Smith's home. "Frightening, frightening, frightening. What's this world coming to? I'm just glad it wasn't a human body. If it hits that (the window) and makes it look like that, just imagine what it would have done to those children."
Stephanie Kujovsky works at a salon nearby. She heard the shots and told her customers to call 911. "There were like 7 gun shots in a row. People ran down the alley, people ran up the alley, I told my customer to call 911."
Sgt. Jim Eggert of the Lebanon City Police Department says they're doing their best to stop the violence in the area. "We're doing what we can, we're getting as much information, I know the criminal division detectives are out talking to people. Officers are being more diligent as far as patrolling the areas - that kind of stuff."
Police say they talked to a 24-year-old male who was walking on Chestnut Street at the time, who said the suspects were trying to rob him.
The male told police that two men approached him, pulled out a gun and demanded his stuff. He told police the suspects then walked him East on Chesnut Street to a third male. He was able to escape but he says that is when the suspects started firing shots at him.
The Lebanon City Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact them.
