A Dauphin County mother claims her son was bullied, beaten and left in a bathroom at school until another student found him.
She's upset that the student she says did this is still in school and still permitted to participate and represent the school as an athlete.
Yvonne Donald says her son is learning disabled and back in September, she got the call her son was attacked in a school bathroom. He suffered a concussion and a fractured facial bone.
“I didn't send him to school to be beat up,” commented Yvonne Donald.
Donald is upset. She says her son, who is a sophomore at Steelton Highspire High School is learning disabled and has a learning support teacher helping him in class.
However, she says what happened during a bathroom break leaves her fearing for her son each day.
“The bell rang and my son went into use the bathroom and the kid who beat him to use the bathroom hit him several times and continued to hit him,” Donald told us.
She says he suffered a concussion, a fractured bone in the face and several facial contusions.
While the records are not released because it's a juvenile case, she says the police have pressed charges. But she says she's angry with the school.
“The kid was back in school before my son was,” Donald told us.
Not only does it anger her, her son has to look at the bully each day who did this to him. The accused, she says, is a star athlete and permitted to continue playing on team sports.
“Why should he be able to participate in sports activities,” Donald questioned. “The school needs to look at this, instead of ignoring me, and not one time did they call and say I’m sorry this happened.”
The school board is meeting Thursday night and Yvonne says after her son's doctor's appointment she will be there. She wants an apology, and she wants answers as to why the bully is still permitted to be a star athlete.
