The jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing is at $250 million.
People all around the country and in Central Pennsylvania are heading to the store to try their luck and hopefully bring home some cash.
“It was really busy during the lunch hour, but it’s slowed down now,” explained Cory Anderson, who works at Tom’s Convenience Store. “But I figure around 5 p.m. it’s going to get really busy.”
Workers at Tom’s in Enola say more people are buying tickets than normal.
“Some people that don’t even buy lottery that come in here, they decide all the sudden, oh, we’ve got to buy this Powerball,” Anderson told us.
Some have never played before, but others buy tickets all the time.
“I’m a regular player, but I do tend to play especially when the big jackpots are, like everybody else,” commented Frederick Blauch. And the playing has paid off, as Frederick has won before.
“A Cash 5 jackpot, a smaller game, but it felt good to win,” Blauch told us. A smaller game, but still a big prize, $225,000 dollars.
“This one would buy me better hours for my remaining year on the railroad here at Enola, and I’d probably do a lot with charities,” Blauch said when asked what he would do with the money.
Other people haven’t been so lucky in the past, but they’re hoping that this time, they strike gold.
“Like everyone else, you just want to win,” chuckled Rob Porter.
Rob Porter has never won before, but if he did, he’s got a plan for the money.
“I’d probably have my own TV reality show,” Porter told us. “I could just get a helmet cam and then film whatever I did. With that kind of money you can do anything.”
“You could do it on CBS, our channel!” we told him.
“Yes, as a matter of fact, I’d probably buy your channel,” Porter came back.
Now the tickets will be on sale until 10 p.m. Wednesday night, and you can buy tickets at Tom’s in Enola!
The drawing will take place Wednesday night at 10:59, and if no one wins, the jackpot will grow larger.
