Local shoppers say Black Friday crowds not as big as other years

How early were you willing to get up for Black Friday deals?

This year, some stores didn’t even wait until Friday and showcased their biggest bargains on Thanksgiving Day.

It’s been said before about Black Friday sales.

But watching video of people beating each other up over deals, it bears repeating. Are we missing the point of getting into the holiday spirit?

Here’s a better reason to shop on Black Friday. “Mother and daughter time, it’s our bonding time,” stated Janice and Jennifer.

But Janice and Jennifer told us something else interesting about Black Friday shopping around Harrisburg, it didn’t seem as crazy.

“The largest line was for the bathrooms, that was it,” they informed us.

Toys ‘R Us was one of a few stores to start their sales Thursday night, which not everyone agrees with.

“Thanksgiving should be for family and no shopping,” one person told us.

But the waiting and racing for deals, for some, didn’t seem as intense on Black Friday.

Time magazine reported that almost half of American consumers started their holiday shopping two weeks ago, so maybe it’s not that early after all.
