UPDATE:
A Pennsylvania State Trooper is hurt during a traffic stop Friday morning on Interstate 81, near the I-83 split in Dauphin County.
He's recovering from an arm injury, but investigators say he's lucky. It could have been a lot worse.
This trooper is very lucky to have survived this crash.
State police now want to remind you that if you see a traffic stop or a car broken down along the highway, the law requires you to move over or slow down.
Around 930 Friday morning a State Trooper was in the middle of a traffic stop on the shoulder off I-81 North, near the I-83 split in Lower Paxton Township.
He approached the tractor trailer from the right side.
As he spoke with the truck's driver through the passenger side door, 74-year-old Linda Butler suddenly slammed her SUV into the back left side of the truck.
The tractor trailer then hit the trooper causing an arm injury. The driver of the suv was hurt, but is expected to be okay.
State police say this accident could have been a lot worse.
"So when you come upon a traffic stop, or someone that's working along the roadway, they need to be extra careful and follow the rules as they are defined in the steer clear law," explained State Trooper Ed Asbury.
Again, those rules say you must move over or slow down when you see someone on the side of the road.
