An overnight police involved shooting at the Veterans Professional Association left one man dead, and tonight his family is hoping justice will be served.

Neighboring businesses told CBS 21 News that the VPA is a club that is only open late at night when the bars close.

Early this morning after a fight broke out inside and moved into the parking lot, multiple shots were fired both from those at the club and by police, and one man was killed.

Around 2:30 this morning, police from York City and West Manchester Township responded to a report of a fight with shots being fired at the Veterans Political Association in the 800 block of Loucks Road.

When police arrived they found a large fight taking place with shots being fired in the parking lot, striking at least three businesses nearby.

According to police, the officers were fired at and returned fire.

No police officers were injured during the fight, but 21-year-old Juan Bonilla Junior of York was killed during the incident.

We spoke with Bonilla's aunt, Maribel Salazar, who says "They just told me that if I heard what happened, and I said yeah, and I said, well, who shot my nephew? And he said, well we don’t know. And I said as far as I know I heard that you guys were the ones doing the shooting and killing, and they said yeah, a police officer was involved and they were trying to get some more information."

Bonilla’s cousin says that it’s time for this type of violence to stop after at least three deadly shootings have happened in the area in the past weeks.

Michelle Torres, Bonilla’s cousin, says, "It’s just hard that he had to go this way. It’s just people that don’t respect other people’s families, the streets are crazy and it’s time for people to you know, get advice from all of this and stay out the streets because this is not good. People keep suffering and it’s hard."

Tonight a candlelight vigil was held for the 21-year-old as family and friends came together to remember Juan Bonilla Junior.

Maribel Salazar, Bonilla's aunt says, "He was a very caring person, very close to the family, he would do anything for the family. He was always there when we needed him the most."

State Police are handling this investigation because it involved York City Police Officers.

At this time, no one has been arrested.
