Ruth Bires, 72, of Litiz passed away on Sunday from injuries she sustained in a DUI hit and run crash on November 3.
Police were dispatched to the 1000 Block of West Main Street for the crash. Ruth Bires and J. Ronald Bires were trapped in their car and taken to Lancaster General Hospital. Ronald Bires was treated for his injuries and released.
The other car involved in the crash was stopped by police and the driver, Leston E. Daugherty, 43, of Elizabethtown was taken into custody.
Daugherty was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Charges are still pending and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mount Joy Borough Department at 717-653-1650.
