First snowfall of the year coming to Central PA

Although not as early as last year, this year’s first measurable snowfall does appear to be a bit ahead of schedule. By Tuesday morning, conditions will be on the snowy side outdoors.

This storm is one that will be a quick hitter, with it moving in and out of the area in less than 15 hours. Snow will start in the western parts of our area, and then move east during the early morning hours.

It appears at this point that places to our north and also south will see less snow, with the highest accumulations right over South-Central PA. Places to the north will be out of the path of the most moisture, while places to the south may be a bit too warm for all snow and may have more mixed precipitation.

Storm totals appear to be between 1 and 3 inches, with a few places possibly seeing higher amounts.

Once the storm moves through, the remainder of Tuesday will be cold, with temperatures barely making it to 40 degrees. Temperatures will moderate towards the weekend, with the first day of December (Saturday) looking to be in the low 50s.
