In Cumberland County, a man was in court after being charged with child abuse.
19-year-old Miles Sherman had his preliminary hearing Wednesday. Sherman faces charges after police say he hit, kicked and choked a five-year-old child, then left the child alone in a room at the Cumberland Valley Hotel in New Kingstown.
Police say the child had also been locked in a bathroom cabinet and suspended from a closet hanger rod by a belt.
Wednesday, a judge ruled to postpone Sherman's preliminary hearing until December 19.
He is being held at the Cumberland County Prison on $25,000 bail.
