The Pennsylvania Lottery sold three winning Powerball tickets worth $1 million each for the Wednesday, Nov. 28 drawing. The tickets were sold at the following locations:
- Swaraj Service Station, 1700 Seventh Ave., Altoona, Blair County;
- Planet Mart, 494 N. Pike Road, Cabot, Butler County; and
- Sunoco, 330 E. Lancaster Ave., Wynnewood, Montgomery County.
Each ticket correctly matched all five white balls, 05-16-22-23-29, but not the red Powerball 06, to win a prize of $1 million, less 25 percent federal withholding.
Each retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling a winning ticket.
“Older Pennsylvanians also came away as big winners because this jackpot run generated more than $28 million in funding for vital services to older adults,” said Executive Director Todd Rucci. “It will help fund prescription drug programs, provide property tax and rent rebates, support senior centers and hot meal programs, contribute to long-term living programs, and sponsor free transit and reduced-fare shared rides -- every day.”
Lottery officials cannot confirm the identity of the winners until each prize is claimed and each ticket is validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.
The Lottery encourages each holder of a winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of Lottery’s seven area offices.
Claims may be filed at Lottery headquarters Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices.
The Nov. 28 Powerball jackpot reached a game-record $587.5 million annuity prize, or $384.7 million cash. Jackpot-winning tickets were sold in Arizona and Missouri.
The Powerball jackpot had been growing since Oct. 6. Through Nov. 28, the Pennsylvania Lottery saw just over $93 million in Powerball and Power Play sales – ranking it third among participating states in overall sales for this run.
Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball/Power Play sales peaked between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Nov. 28, selling at a clip of about $40,500 per minute.
The Powerball jackpot reset to an estimated annuity value of $40 million, or $26.2 million cash, for the Saturday, Dec. 1, drawing.
In the 2010-11 fiscal year, in addition to awarding more than $32 million in prizes to Blair County winners, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed more than $16.4 million to programs that benefited the county’s older residents. In Butler County, Lottery prize awards totaled more than $27 million and funding for benefits to older adults totaled more than $13 million. In Montgomery County, the Lottery awarded more than $97.1 million in prizes to winners and contributed more than $51 million to programs serving older residents.
