HIBBS, Pa. (AP) — State police say a man with heart problems has died after he returned home to find a gun had been stolen when his western Pennsylvania home was burglarized while he was away.
Trooper Stefani Plume of the Uniontown barracks says troopers don't have a suspect in Tuesday's burglary that apparently led to the death of 65-year-old Richard Mazzocco.
Plume says Mazzocco and his wife returned home from running errands Tuesday evening when they noticed their German Township home had been broken into. Mazzocco immediately ran upstairs and found the handgun had been stolen.
That's when Plume says Mazzocco "began to feel ill and then suffered a medical event that resulted in his death. It is a tragic incident."
Police say Mazzocco died of cardiac arrest.
Some jewelry was also stolen.
