Firefighters helped two people escape from a burning home on the 600 block of Peffer Street on Sunday morning.
The fire broke out around 11:30 a.m. Two people inside the row home, a man and a woman, couldn't get out through the front door because of the flames. Fire crews on the scene helped them get out safely through a window. They also saved their dog.
A fire chief on the scene tells CBS21 the fire was electrical and started on the second floor. There is substantial damage inside the home that will displace the residents. The flames spread up through the second and third floors of the row home but crews were able to control it quickly. A connected row home with five residents sustained water damage and is also not livable, according to the fire chief.
