Jose J. Torres, 21, of Lancaster is charged with two counts of burglary and three counts of theft after he was connected to burglaries and thefts in Manheim Township over a period of time.
On November 14, a home in the first block of Jackson Drive, was entered through a window. A video system, video games, and jewlery were taken. On the same day a package left outside of a home in the 100 block of Wilson Drive was taken.
On November 21, there was a forced entry into a home in the 1400 block of Springside Drive a video game system and jewlery were stolen.
Some of the stolen items from the homes were recovered at a local buy and sell shop.
On November 30, officers were called to the area of River Drive for reports of a suspicious male who was knocking on doors in the area.
Torres was stopped by an officer, and gave the officer a false name. When another officer arrived, he recognized the suspect as Jose Torres. Torres tried to flee but he was taken into custody.
He was arraigned on the burglary and theft charges and taken to Lancaster County Prison with $50,000 bail. He is also being charged with resisting arrest and false identification to law enforcement.
