LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania woman's 44 furry friends aren't welcome anymore.

Rhonda Goss has been ordered to cut the cat population at her Manheim Township home after someone complained. A township ordinance limits pet owners to five grown cats or dogs.

Goss says she's a cat lover who takes in strays and abused animals, making sure they're fed and fixed. Goss' veterinarian says the cats kept at the four-bedroom home are well cared-for.

But assistant township zoning officer Samuel Maurer says the rules are the rules. Goss has until Dec. 21 to get down to five cats.

Neighbors tell the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era (http://bit.ly/TzFzo9 ) they're surprised how many cats Goss had because they haven't been a nuisance.

Goss says she is seeking good homes for them.
