Authorities started combing the outskirts of the HACC campus for Clarence Shaffer Monday night. It was the last place he was reported being seen until Tuesday's capture.
But amid an ongoing police investigation classes initially were not cancelled. Police told the school the procedure was low risk and classes were held until 11:30 am.
HACC decided to air on the side of caution and cancel classes for the day.
The scene early this afternoon on the HACC campus couldn't go unnoticed by students and faculty. The sound of barking police dogs added another tense note to the situation.
But this setup was more bark than bite.
