The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture confirmed that a deer that escaped from a New Oxford farm did not have Chronic Wasting Disease.
The doe known as "Pink 23" escaped from the farm in mid-October when it was being moved for testing. A hunter shot the doe last month.
Testing is underway on another deer from a farm in Huntington County, known as "Purple 4" that was from another quarantined farm.
So far, two deer have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease. As a result, the agriculture department has quarantined 24 farms in 12 counties that have been identified as being associated with the herd where deer that tested positive for the disease were found. Deer cannot be moved on or off those quarantined premises.
