It is less than three weeks until Christmas and the Grinch has reared its ugly head in Harrisburg. The victim, was the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army is well known for its Christmas fund raising and providing care for those less fortunate. But Thursday, someone apparently stole ten red aprons and ten bells.
Earlier Thursday, a concerned citizen called the Salvation Army to report a suspicious person asking for cash donations on a downtown street.
Kathy Anderson-Martin, with the Salvation Army of Harrisburg-Capital City Region said they know where the kettles are set up, and that location isn't one of them. "The person was soliciting funds outside a local business in downtown Harrisburg. We know where our twenty red kettle stands are. So obviously we knew that was not a legitimate representative of the Salvation Army. It's really kind of a kick in the stomach to have somebody do that, especially at this time of the year when we're working so hard to help so many people."
It's unlikely the thief will stay in the Harrisburg area, but will probably move on to another area. Don't stop giving though, just be sure there's a kettle with that distinctive sign, "Doing the most good," and then be a generous donor.
