It's all about the details for the Train Club at Garden Spot Retirement Village in New Holland.
Since 2003, Harry Black has been scaling to fit model size trains in the basement of one the villages buildings.
What began as a small room with a train set has turned into a model train exhibit attracting thousands to the Lancaster County retirement center.
Now, nearly 20 residents escape to be "with the guys," says Black. They spend hours -- not working -- but hobbying.
Typically, the train club only is open to residents, their families and organizations by appointment. But for the holidays, they open up their doors for the general public. An event, they say, is great for the family.
Walking inside the room, visitors will be greeted by the sounds of train whistles, miniature engines rushing on the tracks, and a flat screen TV with a live view from a train's perspective going around the tracks. There's also a 'Thomasville' with a Thomas the Tank model with the opportunity for visitors to talk with Thomas.
The club doesn't charge a fee, but ask for donations. For more information, follow this link.
