On Wednesday just after noon, South Lebanon Township Police attempted to stop a vehicle on King Street in South Lebanon.
The vehicle did not stop when police attempted to pull them over and left the roadway, striking a mailbox. A resident was standing in her driveway and was almost struck by the car.
The truck came to a stop when the mailbox post became wedged under the truck.
Jonathan Rutter, 19 of Lebanon and Mercedes Lanigan, 21 of Middletown, were both charged with recklessly endangering another person, possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing marijuana. Rutter, who was driving, was also charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving while under suspension and speeding.
