It was a very emotional day in court as the young victims of Michael Archacki pleaded with a judge to hand down a harsh sentence. They talked about how Archacki sexually abused them, about the nightmares and how their lives have been “ruined”. And now he will most likely spend the rest of his life in prison
Joel Schneider a member of one victim’s family says he feels relief. “Relief that he imposed a sentence that would keep him locked up for most of his life, if not all of it.”
It’s been a long year and a half for Christine and Joel Schneider; one full of pain, suffering and now relief. This afternoon Michael Archacki, who was found guilty on 24 courts of child sexual abuse was sentenced to 32.5 to 65 years in prison.
At 43-years-old that could amount to a life sentence.
In September, a jury found that Archacki used his influence as a policeman, fireman and father of young children to gain access to four young girls, ages 12 -14, and sexually assault them in his Quarryville home.
In court, Archacki, who was once considered a trusted friend of the families he victimized, was called a selfish, despicable, monster.
Christine Schneider another member of a victim's family says she feels proud the girls came forward. “Many victims do not come forward. And we are just so proud of her and encourage other victims, if you have no come forward and have been abused in the past we encourage you to seek help and get counseling.”
Archacki showed no remorse when the sentence was handed down. And when the judge asked if he wanted to say anything, he said no.
