Many believe the Mayan calendar predicts the world will end on Friday. But around here, it doesn't seem to concern many people, instead it gives them a chance to party.

And one local brewery is getting in on the fun, too.  Troeg's Brewery even brewed a special drink to get into the spirit for the special day.

But as for the people we talked to, this so-called "dooms day" doesn't really concern them.

According to the Mayans', December 21st is believed to be the end of the world.

Many area residents aren't all that concerned about the end of the world.  Robert Ward of Harrisburg said it won't happen. "I'm a christian, and the bible tells me no man can predict when the world will end."

Alyssa Pantalon was unaware of "dooms day", "I heard it was coming up, but I didn't know it was coming."

For some residents, like Megan Margerson, it only means to have a good time.  "I've heard it a few times, but it's just an excuse to party."

Jason Rubal of the Harrisburg Arts Center's Stage at Herr, they plan to party.  "We thought we'd have a party."  The venue plans to have live concerts and plenty entertainment Friday night.  "We'll see what happens, we may not be at the end of the world, but have a good time at least," Rubal said.

Inside Troegs Brewery, is the 'Impending Decent'.  "We wanted to brew a beer here for the end of the world," said John Trogan. A drink they feel is crafted well for the end.

But as the 21st quickly approaches, some won't let the hype get in their way.  "If I don't Christmas shop, people will be pretty upset and its not gonna be a good excuse."

Troegs says they are getting a high response for the beer and are almost sold out.
