Changes in the Penn State Board of Trustees as one of the most recognized names from the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky scandal will no longer be chair.
Karen Peetz was at the head of the Board of Trustees through the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
She says she will not run for another term as chairwoman, citing her new position as President of the Bank of New York Mellon. Peetz says she'll remain on the board through the end of her term in 2013.
She took over as chairwoman one year ago, leading the board's efforts to reform university guidance following the scandal.
As the board's leader, she often faced criticism for the board's handling of the Sandusky fallout and when the NCAA sanctions were handed down, many called for her resignation.
In a statement, Peetz implied the demands that come with her promotion from CEO will require much of her time.
Trustees Vice Chairman Keith Masser says he will run for Chairman of the Board. The election of a new leader will take place at the January 18 board meeting.
