Covering the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, a trial date has been set for the two top Penn State officials accused of lying to a grand jury and failing to report child abuse.

They'll be in court early next year.

January 7, is the date a judge has chosen as the start date for Tim Curley and Gary Schultz trial.

Retired Penn State Vice President Schultz and former Athletic Director Tim Curley are accused of lying to a grand jury and burying an allegation of a child's sexual abuse in the Jerry Sandsuky scandal.

Lawyers for the men were in court Thursday morning, asking Judge Todd Hoover to throw out all charges of perjury and failing to report a crime.

They also requested more evidence and details about the charges so they can form a better defense if the case goes to trial.

Judge Hoover hasn't ruled on the motions yet.

Again, the trial for Curley and Schultz is scheduled to start January 7. CBS 21 News will be there covering every angle of the story.
