Not only were some people left homeless from a fire in a home behind me, but a fireman was injured and taken to the hospital. We are being told the injuries are minor and he's been released.
Gary Logan lives near the home, “I was watching television and the cops banged on the door and said the house was on fire.”
Friday morning, around 11:30 a third floor apartment in row homes on the 200 block of West Cottage Place caught fire.
Within 20 minutes crews had the flames under control and 10 minutes after that, it was out.
But not before it effected about a dozen people who live in these apartments.
“We could probably go back in our unit because ours was the first floor, but there's no power. So, we'll have no furnace and what not," Logan said.
Gary Logan is one of those people. He may have to leave or his apartment may have been spared.
But for residents in three other apartments, they know they will not sleep in their bed Friday night. The Red Cross is assisting two people who lived by themselves and another family with food and shelter.
“I'm just concerned about getting my mother to my sister's house. Myself, I can call a friend and stay somewhere I'm sure.”
Fire officials do not yet know what caused the fire, the are investigating.
