As we approach Christmas, local homeless shelters and missions are asking you to remember the less fortunate.
Water Street Ministries in Lancaster City is seeing a much larger than normal need this year, as people are in search of food and shelter.
The ministry is serving about 600 people daily, which is up from just a few months ago. They are also sheltering about 250 people a night, compared to about 225 earlier this year. The shelter is in need of food and money.
They are trying to raise a million dollars by the end of the year to be able to keep up with the need. Maria Schasberger with the Ministries says remember those less fortunate. “Whenever you can remember the poor, it's a really good thing. There are people who are hurting. There are people who need some extra help especially this time of year.”
