For three young girls, this Christmas will be the first without their mother. But an Adams County community came together to make sure the girls will wake up to Christmas Cheer tomorrow morning.
You could say Santa enlisted some help in McSherrystown at Conewago Elementary School. All for a family who lost their mom to breast cancer over two months ago.
"It came back," said dad Ben Sullivan, "angry and it was determined it would take her this time." Ben and Michelle Sullivan had three young daughters together. This will be the first Christmas 8-year-old Abby and 5-year-old twins will open their gifts without their mom.
"I explained to them, Lord Jesus, as long as mommy's with Jesus, they're happy," said Ben. "I didn't even think of Christmas until it was here."
So with the help of Conewago Township Elementary School, the girls will be getting their Christmas presents.
Troy Johnson, who will help Santa out by delivering the gifts tonight after the girls to go bed, said "We're going to fold down the seats and take a trip or two. Everything you're looking at is pure kindness."
"Santa's helpers have been very good this year," added Ben.
