In this week's Keys to Caring, having a stroke can have lasting effects and it can be tough to get through without the proper support.
Pinnacle Health is one hospital that offers such assistance to stroke survivors and their families. They're called support groups where patients can participate in a variety of activities, including educational programs to help in the recovery process.
One medical official says the groups are good to make sure survivors know they're not alone.
“It's really important to stay connected with other individuals who have had strokes because they need to have relationships with others as they progress in their recovery,” stated Nurse Case Manager Karen Fake. “They need to understand they're not alone.”
