On New Years Day, West York Borough Police were called to the Giant Foods Store, 1200 West Market St., for a report of two disorderly people, one a female the other a male. The pair was to causing a disturbance and refusing an employees demand to leave the property.
Two officers met with store management and then the couple. The couple were in the store the day before and cashed a money order. They returned to the store to buy groceries. The couple claimed the Giant had given then a counterfeit $20 bill.
The pair was attempting to trade in the counterfeit bill for a real one and management at the store refused to honor the exchange.
The woman, Johanny Rodriguez, 27, of York City, began yelling at employees and hitting the counter. While police were talking with Rodriguez and her husband, an officer offered to pay for her family's groceries, but she refused.
Rodriguez continued yelling and hitting the counter, even after the officer asked her to stop multiple times. The officers told her they were arresting her for disorderly conduct and ordered her to leave. She refused and the officers escorted her out of the store. She began pushing, kicking and punching the officers and then bit them on the hands.
She was arrested after officers used a taser, and was taken to Central Booking for processing.
She faces aggravated assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct charges.
