Swatara Township Police have an arrest warrant for a man who fired at least 12 shots in front of Steelton-Highspire High School this weekend.. The intended victim and neighbors escaped injury. CBS 21’s Kirk Wilson reports.
The Saturday afternoon incident caught the neighbors by surprise. They were wondering how assault rifles fall into the wrong hands.
police the suspect fired the weapon at least 12 times. He is 24-year-old Lance Elijah Lawson who has lived in Enola and Harrisburg. He is an African American male, 6’2”, 245 pounds with short black hair.
Witnesses told police Lawson was a passenger in a tan Buick Rendezvous van. He got out of the vehicle on Orchard Drive near the high school. As the victim was crossing the sports field, Lawson ran toward him, firing at least 12 rounds from an assault rifle. He then got back in the van and fled on Vine into Steelton Borough.
Police are looking for Lawson on charges of criminal attempt, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon on school property, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.
According to the investigation, the confrontation between Lawson and the victim was domestic related. Police also recovered two firearms at the scene of the shooting. If you know the whereabouts of 24-year-old Lance Elijah, contact Swatara Township Police.
