A new effort to fight crime in the City of Harrisburg seems to be working and soon police will have some extra tools to use.
The Dauphin County District Attorney says there's a plan to add cameras to businesses and light poles in the Capital City.
Ed Marsico says it will cost $200,000 and the money comes from a fund that uses gambling revenue.
The same fund is paying for extra patrols for neighboring police departments. A program so far the DA says is working.
“The criminals, the thugs, they know what's going on,” stated District Attorney Ed Marsico.
During the coordinated detail, the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team has made 18 arrests and served 79 warrants.
The plan is to have the cameras in place by the end of the year.
