A new era of Penn State football begins Saturday with the kickoff of the new season. Friday, Route 22/322 is busy as people are making the trip up to State College for the game.
Whether people are heading up to State College or not, they'll be watching the game tomorrow.
Penn State will kick off a new era of football in the first season opener since the passing of Joe Paterno and the Jerry Sandusky trial.
On this Labor Day weekend, the roads will be packed with people going on mini-vacations and of course, going to the season opener in State College.
“I've been doing this for the past 10 years, so I kind of got it down to a science,” explained Chris Posey. “We know what time we have to leave by so we're going to miss that Harrisburg traffic and any backup on 322.”
While many people are making the trek, others don't want to battle the traffic and worry about their wallets.
“Traffic wise and gas these days, you know, it's too expensive,” cited Justin Kapp.
Luckily you can watch the game from the comfort of your own couch.
“Probably just going to watch it on TV, with my friends,” Kapp added.
Fans from all around the country will be watching both at Beaver Stadium and on TV, they say it's important to support the team and school.
“We are Penn State,” exclaimed Posey. “Just remember, they need our support up there, not only the victims, but the students, the alumni. We have to rally around our college and show the nation, because it's going to be on TV tomorrow, that we care about our school.”
The Nittany Lion faithful will be watching in full force, saying they have a message to send to all who have been watching.
