Police in Lancaster County have arrested two teens for intentionally setting a popular playground on fire.
On September 28, Mount Joy Borough lost a landmark. The borough's wooden playground, Joyland Fun Fort, was set on fire and destroyed. Police say the wooden structure was doused with gasoline and lit on fire.
Angelo Zeno, 18 and a 17-year-old from Maytown were both arrested and charged with arson.
According to police, the pair stole the gasoline from a cemetery shed.
Both Zeno and the 17-year-old both face the same charges, seven in total including arson.
The fire caused $114,000 in damage and the playground had to be demolished. After the explosion, Zeno suffered severe burns and the 17-year-old was also injured.
The park was built by community effort in 1994, and losing it was a big blow to the Borough. However, the borough does plan to rebuild.
