A Cumberland County man is in custody after police say he robbed a group of Girl Scouts of their cookie money in Chester County.

On Sunday January 20, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department was called to the Pathmark in the Berwyn section of the township, for a report of a strong arm robbery.

Witnesses told police a man in his 20's approached a group of Girl Scouts from Troop 4305 at their table set up for cookie sales.  They say the man took an unknown amount of money from a plastic donation jar benefiting U.S Troops. The man then reached into a cash box with money from the cookie sales and stole $20 from it.

Witnesses told police, a quick thinking Girl Scout closed the box, which denied the man from getting more money.  They say the man fled behind the store.

On February 19th, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department were called to a retail theft in progress at Paoli Acme.  Officers were told a male left the store with $116 of merchandise. The man put the merchandise in his truck and tried to flee, but was confronted by store employees.  The man dropped the items and fled the scene.

Then again, on February 25, officers were called to the Pathmark store for a reported purse snatching.

The man was identified as Jevon Michael Avis, 31, of Carlisle and police connected him to the previous two incidents.

Avis was arraigned and taken to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. He faces robbery charges and other related charges.
