In Franklin County, vets at a Chambersburg Animal Hospital are working to get a 3-year-old Pit bull back to health. The hospital says the dog was found starving on the side of the road, weighing just 25 pounds.
Looking at Eve's face, she looks like any other 3-year-old pit bull. But the rest of her, not so much.
"Initially, they couldn't get a temperature on her," explained Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter's Jennifer Vanderau. "The thermometer starts reading at 90, that's how low her body temp was."
Last Thursday she was found on the side of a Chambersburg road and Eve could barely walk. Vets at Lincoln Way Animal Hospital are working around the clock to give her care. But how Eve got in this condition, it's too soon to tell.
Eve has gained ten pounds since being rescued.
"I'm cautiously optimistic at this point," Vanderau advised.
The pit bull has since been taken to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter. But she won't be ready for a home anytime soon. Now the Lincoln Way Animal Hospital says so many people want to help and the best thing they can do is support the animal shelter.
