Dauphin County inmate pronounced dead after being hospitalized

A woman who had been in Dauphin County Prison since November 22 was pronounced dead at the hospital on Tuesday morning.

Monique Mason, 31, was first hospitalized on March 2 after she was found unresponsive. Correctional officers and medical staff immediately responded after finding her unresponsive and provided medical care.

Mason was in prison for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and also had a county parole detainer for drugs.

The Dauphin County Coroner’s Office and Criminal Investigation Division are conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of death.
