The owner of a vacant building in Allison Hill that partially collapsed Sunday is working with Harrisburg officials to demolish the one-story building. Two walls of the building in the 1700 block of Briggs Street came down Sunday.
The city codes officer said an engineer was at the site Monday morning to determine the structural integrity of the remaining structure. The plan is to “pull in” the building as soon as possible.
Fencing will be placed around the building to keep people out of the rubble. Briggs Street remained open after cleanup. City crews were removing debris from Primrose Alley.
The codes officer blamed the collapse on recent rains that has been washing away mortar and other masonry work.
