From Lebanon City Police:

On September 13, 2012 the Lebanon City Police Department received a report of a home improvement scam. A resident of the 400 block of East High Street reported that two men visited her home. The men advised the victim that they noticed damage or issues on her roof and offered to fix the damage and quoted a price. The suspects quoted a verbal price for the repairs stating “twenty-four, sixty” leading the victim to believe it was $24.60.

After spending approximately forty-five minutes on the roof the suspect returned and told the victim $2460.00 was due. When the victim was reluctant to pay the suspect became agitated and threatened to place a lien on the victim’s home.

The suspects are described as white males with a medium skin tone, medium height and medium build. One of the suspects was wearing a fluorescent green safety vest. They arrived at the home in a black in color pickup truck, unknown make and model, with no visible markings on the truck.

The victim in the case is 83 years old and it is believed the suspects may target the elderly. Residents are advised to turn away any home improvement that was not previously arranged, seek written estimates and verify the identity of home improvement contractors.

Anyone with information reference this or a similar case is asked to contact the Lebanon City Police at 717-272-6611 or Lebanon County Crime Stoppers at 270-9800.
