State Police are investigating a theft by deception that occurred earlier this month on Red Pine Road in West Hanover Township.
Two white males approached a 92-year-old man regarding completing various tasks around his home. They offered to clean his driveway, sidewalks and pressure wash his windows and siding.
One of the men said he and his grandson would complete the tasks for $175.
The men pressure washed to home in about 40 minutes and painted the sidewalk. One of the men then drew up a proposal saying they would need more money for the materials to work on the home.
The victim was told they would need $5,050 for materials and $175 for the labor. The victim said he only had $425 in his checking account and that he would not pay the sum of over $5,000.
The victim made a deal with the men to pay $350.00 and wrote them a check. The check was cashed by a different man at the bank.
State Police are investigating the scam.
