A Harrisburg mother is speaking out more than a week after her son was killed in broad daylight.
18-year-old Valdez Cockren was shot last Wednesday at the intersection of Park and South 16th Streets in the City of Harrisburg.
His mother sat down with CBS 21 News, expressing her frustration with the increasing violence in Harrisburg.
"I wouldn't wish this on anybody,” stated Cockren’s mother, Nicole Aiken. “This crime out there, it's just terrible, these young kids need to wake up.”
"Everyday is an emotional struggle,” added Aiken.
A fund has been set up to help her raise money for her son's funeral. She hopes to have it Saturday, the World Day of Peace.
To donate money to the fund, contact Metro Bank in reference to the Valdez Cockren Memorial Fund.
The funeral is being handled by the Wallace Funeral Directors.
