UPDATE:
The Chambersburg community is breathing a sigh of relief after police put an accused killer behind bars.
Thursday, charges were filed in a murder that happened there last week.
Police say the man charged in the murder, Steffawn Spriggs, says he's part of a gang called ‘the Bloods’. But the man he's accused of killing isn't.
They're not sure if that plays a part in this murder.
On September 17th, 18-year-old Calvin Beam Jr. was gunned down on the streets of Chambersburg. Almost two weeks went by and police had not made any arrests, worrying some people.
"I think that any time you have a homicide the community wants to know, okay, is this guy a serial killer, a local person, from outside the area, all of the questions are running through folks mind," stated Chambersburg Police chief David Arnold.
Chambersburg Police announced charges in the murder against 23-year-old Steffawn Spriggs, a self-proclaimed Bloods gang member.
The Mullenix family has lived in Chambersburg for more than a decade and says it's usually peaceful.
"There's a lot of teenagers around but I've never seen any gangs," stated neighbor Christina Mullenix.
"I’ve never seen any gangs around here or anything but I sure hope they're not around here," added John Mullenix.
At a press conference, Police Chief Arnold said federal agents arrested Spriggs just two days after the murder in Harrisburg on a parole violation.
While they had him in custody, Chambersburg detectives built their case and Thursday charged him with first degree murder.
"It usually doesn't happen here so it was shocking,” Christina Mullenix told us. “I'm relieved because I'm sure everyone was on edge because you know how long has it been?"
"I'm glad they caught him because I was getting worried it's not far from the house," John concluded.
News of the charges will help people sleep better at night.
But Chambersburg's only murder this year won't be far from their minds.
Beam's family had no comment.
Spriggs is in Camp Hill prison on that parole violation. He will be brought back to Chambersburg to face the murder charge.
When that will happen is unclear.

Police have charged someone in the murder of a Chambersburg man that happened last week.
23-year-old Steffawn Spriggs was picked up on a parole violation in Harrisburg just two days after the murder by federal agents. Thursday, he was charged with murder.
CBS 21 was at a press conference which discussed the murder.
There are many stories floating around out there as to why Spriggs allegedly killed Calvin Beam Jr.
But, Chambersburg's Police Chief says that at this time the motive is unclear.
Police say Steffawn Spriggs did admit to being part of a gang called "the Bloods". He faces a list of charges including murder in the first degree.
Police say he allegedly shot and killed 18-year-old Calvin Beam Jr. last Monday night.
The murder happened in the area of Franklin Street and Martin Avenue in Chambersburg.
Police say Beam was shot three times and bullets hit a nearby home, but no one else was hurt.
While the feds had Spriggs in custody last week on a parole violation, detectives in Chambersburg were building their case and finally had enough evidence to charge Spriggs Thursday.
"The detectives talked to many people. A homicide investigation is like a jigsaw puzzle,” explained Chambersburg Police Chief David Arnold. “You find one piece that leads you to another piece we had to talk to a bunch of people we had to find the route after he left Chambersburg how did he end up in Harrisburg. And even on this moment we're working on how he got there. Who he was with did he make any statements. All those types of things"
We did speak with Beam's family over the phone. They say they have no comment.
Spriggs is sitting in Camp Hill Prison on that parole violation and will be returned to Chambersburg to face the murder charges.
When that will happen is unclear at this point.
