The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced in a press release Thursday, that a Schuylkill County resident was sentenced today by Senior U.S. District Court Judge A. Richard

Caputo to serve 57 months in prison for participating in a drug trafficking conspiracy that operated in the Schuylkill County area.

According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Scott Murphy, age 33, of Auburn, Pennsylvania, admitted to conspiring with others to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, and percocet pills during 2010 through February 2012.

Murphy was indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2012, as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office.

Judge Caputo also ordered Murphy to be placed on supervised release for four years following his prison sentence, and to pay a $100 special assessment.

Assistant United States Attorney Francis P. Sempa prosecuted the case.
