As of 1045 p.m., Interstate 81 has been reopened. However, residual traffic will likely keep it slow in the area for quite awhile.

State police are investigating a serious crash in Cumberland County right now and we want to tell you that the area around the Middlesex Township exit, off Interstate 81 is closed to drivers heading south.
We also know three people were hurt.
The crash happened around 745 Thursday night, on the southbound lane of I-81, as you said, near the Middlesex exit.
State Police tell us that the driver of a pickup truck was headed south. There were two cars parked on the shoulder. One was broken down, with a woman sitting in inside.
A man, who pulled over to help the woman, was standing outside of her car trying to jump start it. The driver of the pickup truck veered off the road, slamming into the woman's car.
He hit her car so hard, she was thrown out of the vehicle she was sitting in. The man working on her car was also hit and thrown.
Police say the woman had some really bad injuries to her face. A helicopter took her to Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
The man working on her car and the driver of the pickup truck, were hurt, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in this crash.
They do not know how long this area will be closed to drivers.

The accident occurred when a 34-year-old man standing outside their car was struck by a passing vehicle.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to Penn State Hershey Medical Center by Life Lion.
