A story you will only see on CBS 21 as a ten-year-old child is attacked by a pit bull and after police closed a street in Harrisburg to safely remove the dog from a home, cops were forced to shoot and kill another dog that charged at them.
It happened on the 2000 block of Green Street in the Capitol City. CBS 21 was there as everything unfolded.
"This little kid that was running around here, he was on his bike, and then the dog just jumped on him and started biting him," explained Collen Muray, whose father owns the dog.
Just before 6 p.m., a two-year-old pit bull attacked a ten-year-old boy who was riding his bike on the 2000 block of Green Street in Harrisburg.
"I had to go grab my dog cause when the kid was in the middle of the street I saw he was getting hurt like really bad," Muray continued.
The boy was taken to Hershey Medical Center with four dog bites and is expected to be okay, but this isn't the first time this dog has been violent.
"He bit a couple people before,” Muray told us, “but it wasn't really as serious as this was."
Police were called out to the scene and came to the conclusion that the dog was too dangerous and needed to be taken away.
"That dog is too dangerous to be around," shouted an officer at one point.
Police prepared to enter the home by asking the family to go inside and secure the brown pit bull that attacked the child in its cage, as well as their white pit bull that has no history of aggression.
"He's just causing way too much trouble for us,” Muray explained about the brown pit bull. “We can't keep him anymore."
When police were securing the brown pit bull that had attacked the boy, the white pit bull got loose and charged police.
Police were forced to shoot and kill the dog for their own safety. At that point the brown pit bull went silent, and police removed the dog from the home.
Police say that the investigation into the dog attack is ongoing, and for now the dog will be brought to the Humane Society.
