More problems in Middletown, after a former council member has filed a federal lawsuit against the borough council's former President and a retired Chief of Police.
Former Councilwoman Diana McGlone is accusing one time Council President Mary Hiester and retired Police Chief Keith Reissmiller with conspiring to wrongfully have her arrested.
The felony charge against McGlone was the Unlawful Use of a Computer.
The disagreement began last October when McGlone challenged Hiester, at a council meeting, to resign and to repay the cost of an investigation into a sexual harassment claim made against Hiester by a borough employee.
The lawsuit says Hiester enlisted the Police Chief at the time, Keith Reismiller, to mount a criminal probe into whether McGlone accessed Hiester's borough email account.
In a phone conversation with CBS 21, McGlone said, "I'd love to (comment), but i will not comment on legal matters at this time."
Hiester responded, "I haven't been served with a lawsuit. When i get the papers and read them, i might have something to say. How do you people get them before i do?"
McGlone claims her right to free speech was violated. She says she continues to suffer extreme emotional anguish and harm. She also says she lost her job as an information technology analyst as a result of the criminal charges.
No charges were filed against Hiester on the sexual harassment allegation. McGlone participated in Dauphin County's accelerated rehabilitative disposition program, purging her criminal charges.
