The Freeh Report not only gave an account of what may have happened, it also gave a list of recommendations on how Penn State could improve the University environment so that there is more accountability and more transparency.
Penn State has released an update on how it is progressing on completing the recommendations.
Among the forty items complete, the University has the following policy changes.
A master list of 3,000 names of those persons with Clery Act reporting responsibilities to notify them annual of the Clery Act responsibilities and publish the list to the University Community.
A mandatory reporter training conducted for more than 7,200 employees and volunteers.
Established and implemented policies to facilitate assistance from other law enforcement agencies in sensitive or extra ordinary cases.
Penn State says that in addition to working on the Freeh Report recommendations the University has also taken steps to change the organization structure of Intercollegiate Athletics to clearly define lines of authority responsibilities and reporting relationships.
The University reports that as of Wednesday October 10th, Forty items on the list are complete or substantially complete. Four have the initial step complete and seventy five are in progress and on track.
