UPDATE:

Following an autopsy Monday, the Lancaster County DA says it does not look like a woman who was found dead in her home in Ephrata this past weekend was murdered.

The autopsy indicated that the woman died of asphyxiation but there was no trauma. She was not strangled.

The 48-year-old woman was found insider of her home Saturday on the first block of North State Street in Ephrata. The autopsy was done Monday by the Lancaster County Coroner.

Even though the death has not been declared a homicide, the investigation will continue to find out exactly how she died. So toxicology tests have been requested.

It should take about two weeks before those toxicology reports come back.

Neighbors say police have been at this house since before nine this morning setting up police tape and investigating a death.
Lieutenant Shumaker with the Ephrata Police Department, says "Earlier today we received a call for a check on a welfare. That incident has turned into an investigation into the unattended death of 48-year-old female. At this point we're early into the stages of this investigation and the information we can release is limited.""

Police found the woman in her residence on the first block of North State Street in Ephrata.

Neighbors say police have been at the scene all day.

Kenneth Martz, a neighbor, says "They brought the crime wagon out and then they started upstairs and put their booties on and stuff and gloves and then they stuck yellow tape around it."

Another neighbor, Scott Daub, says "I'm actually really upset because I saw her walk out in the body bag and, put her in the gurney and I have no idea what happened."

The 48-year-old woman was well known by her neighbors, and they say she was a good person.

Police say this investigation is ongoing and they plan to conduct an autopsy on Monday.
