Two local men were arrested after a wild scene on the famed boardwalk at Ocean City, Maryland.

Around 630 a.m., Ocean City Police attempted to pull over a 2007 Dodge Magnum with Texas registration near the boardwalk.

The vehicle fled police by going up on the boardwalk and heading north. Citizens walking on the boardwalk had to scramble to get out of the way.

Officers did not pursue on the boardwalk, but continued to keep the men in their sights. The car turned off the boardwalk and three of the men bailed out of the car. Police were able to detain the three passengers.

Officers continued to follow the car, but lost sight of it near Baltimore Avenue. However, another officer spotted it in the area of 16th Street. An officer attempted to pull over the car and the driver again went up on the boardwalk for a brief period of time.

Once back off the boardwalk, the suspect tried to turn north and crashed on 17th Street. The driver kept going and then crashed through a fence, continuing into a homeowner’s backyard.

The driver then attempted to flee police by jumping in the bay. The suspect climbed out of the water and was taken into custody.

An investigation found that the vehicle was stolen during a burglary out of York. The driver, Jimmy Carl Anderson, has a criminal past in York and was a wanted fugitive.

Police also found marijuana and prescription drugs inside the car.

One of the passengers who bailed out, Aaron Lloyd Canterbury of York, was found to be in possession of marijuana, Ecstasy and other drug paraphernalia.

Anderson was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, destruction of property, resisting arrest, escape, possession of drugs and many traffic violations.
